The challenge

To reinterpret the layout and design of GSK’s global in-house magazine, Spirit, and make it function in an online environment that could be accessed from their intranet. To build the portal as a ‘plug and play’ solution that gives the user an intuitive magazine experience rather than a website experience.

 

The solution

Spirit is made up of a series of extended articles, usually between 6 and 9, with a lead story that is featured on the cover. We created a ‘bungee’ navigation system that gives the user a horizontal rather than vertical reading experience which brings them back to the contents/edition landing-page to select the next article. This means the user doesn’t have to scroll up and down through pages of vertical content to get to where they want to be, it keeps the navigation very intuitive, simple and magazine like.
